Okay so before we all had a nice little discussion about Rachel and Luce's almost-kiss-end of date. Yyou know right after talking about the meaning of the lilly. Well after watching it I myself believe that we were all a little right, and that someone, though I can't remember who actually said all of this.
Rachel went in to given Luce a kiss of the cheek. - You see Rachel leaning toward her side/cheek, not her front/lips
Luce expects the kiss to be on the lips, and so when Rachel moves in, she turns her head slightly and leans in a bit to the lips.
Right when the lights pass, Rachel leans away from Luce's lips and backs up. *Awkward moment* Luce turns her face down a little, knowing she misinterpreted and has just screwed herself out of a goodnight kiss.
Rachel, realising what Luce wanted, and perhaps a bit embarrassed by both their actions, ends it with an awkward goodnight.
So, in short. Rachel went to Kiss Luce on the cheek, Luce thought it was going to be a kiss on the lips, and in the end they both felt awkward. ^^
lol. Anyone feel differently? Feel free to post. I just absolutely love this movie and love discussing it^^

Hmm, I disagree. I reckon it was a 'well this has been a great evening, I think I might be in love with this person, we're saying goodbye, feels natural to go in for the kiss...' *light shines* 'woahhh hang on a sec... I'm married and I'm not gay, this is a chick who isn't my husband... ooh... awkward... RUN AWAY!!!' sorta moment.

I think it's abit of both actually she could have just been thinking end of night give her a kiss on the cheek no harm.... but then when you see the look on her face i think it's more likely that she was gonna kiss her on the lips... i've had that look done to me by my ex-girlfriend before and i was pretty shattered like Luce when I didn't get that kiss... so my theory is it's more likely the lips but then she realised it would be wrong...

i think too,.. that Rachel went for the cheek, etc...
but what is still interesting to recognize that Luce move a little bit backwards, (why????) and they attachment movements were like backwards an forwards, like a slow dancing, (u will recognize this if you fix Luce face, nose to the back of the line of the gate' behind her...and u will see that she moved really backwards when Rachel went for her cheeck, after she turned her head left, to get closer to Rachel lips, but this time Rachel moved backwards, but now Luce followed her, and here is the dancing....but this time Rachel was going for the lips, but the light separated them...
i love how Lena moves her lips, i think this movemnets mainly related when sombody is shy...and did u recognize that she was watching Rachel's mouth continously during this sceen, and the right moment she watched straight to Rachel eyes....absolutly perfect performance...this is really a professional movements....each step comming from a great heart...or is she really pracriced this...i think it came from her heart...absolutly...
And you can see again that special movements with her lips (how do u say it in English, please help) when she turns from Rachel, and leaves...this movement appears again when she was left behind alone in her flower shop by Rachel, before the real kissing screen...I think this lovely movements is tipical for Lena, i have seen this before in her other movies...i love it...
The other movement what i liked when Rachel explains, pretending that she is Heck, and says "that how much i like Rachel who beautiful and nice she is etc", and Luce turns her head down during this speach, and same happening when she is sitting next to Rachel in the scool and "H" made mistake in her performance...these little movements are all show how much emotion Luce has...or how much she is a kind of shy mixed with the realisation that she loves these people, she feels these people, and she knows it...(i know as i do the same..)
what do u think about this?

I'm with you... it didn't occur to me about the little dance thing until i thought about it in my head and realised that they did that... and the thing about the little things Luce does like putting her head down in both scenes I agree with that... I know how it feels to be in her shoes... but at the same time whose dream is that suppose to be is it Rachel's or Luce's cause i was a little unclear i thought it was Luce's but then when H stops talking it's Rachel thats left reeling from it???? Am I right?

interesting... i thought about that too. and i think it was Rachel's dream... because she acted like she didn't know what to make of it - her dream, whereas, Luce acted normal (that or she was able to hide it really well)

I agree. The way I see it, Rachel went to kiss Luce on the cheek and Luce thought it was going to be a kiss on the lips. But then Rachel went for the lips, before being interrupted by the car. I like how awkward they seem after that. It is like they both want more than a simple "goodbye, see you soon" kiss, but at the same time, they felt that it was wrong, since Rachel was married. It shows their goodness and ethic.
Now, about the scene with H's space thing... I think it may be Rachel's dream (when the lights went up, she was the one watching Luce). But I think Luce was also thinking about Rachel (she was a bit shocked when the lights went up). They were both very concious that the other one was so very close...Luce was better than Rachel to cover her feelings.
Rachel - "Now tell me about the lily?"
Luce - "The lily means....the lily means I dare you to love me"

Just stumbled into this forum - I'm so glad it exists!! You guys would make great XFiles fans! :P
I never saw everything that you guys just revealed about the almost
kiss. That's wonderful - now I have a valid excuse to watch, rewatch
and watch that scene again. I'd like to add one of the things I did
notice - check out their breaths. It was cold out so you could see it
and just notice how they both were breathing so heavily right after the
almost kiss. I wish, though, that there was a follow up scene or shot
of Luce after that scene - because I'd like to see her reaction as
well, not just Rachel's.
About the space scene. I think it was both their fantasies. Luce looked
a bit suprised too. I agree that she hid it much better - a great sign
on the type of character she is - shy and the type who doesn't like to
ruffle anyone's feathers - she's adept at hiding her emotions. Of
course if you look like lovely Lena, you don't have to do anything to
ruffle anyone's feathers ;)

Wow, (yes... picking up another old thread...) I must say that I never noticed that Rachel was aiming for the cheeks at first, but I definitely saw Luce's tilt for a kiss on the lips! So cuteeee... Then Rachel's second attempt at the kiss is so sweet as well... Too bad they never went for it.
And I'd always been thinking about the scene at H's presentation. I really think they were both sort of dreaming, because it's quite obvious when Luce looks so shocked when she sits up abruptly as the lights are put back on. Rachel was definitely in a dream with her staring at Luce like that, lol.
Both such wonderful moments <33 :)
