hi all! i've just seen aberdeen. just wondering what everyone else thinks of it?
and also, does anyone know if lena is in any of the special features sections of the brothers grimm?
thanks...
Hi tensix,
"Aberdeen" was the first movie I buyed after seeing "Imagine Me & You". I think it was a very well done drama. A movie about a person whom just goes down and down with substance abuse behavior isn't normally my cup of tea. But I knew, after reading an interview, that Ms. Headey thought highly of that movie, and since I found her so great in IM&Y, I wanted to see it. She was very great in it, as were the other actors. It is not a light movie, but it is a good one.
As for "The Brothers Grimm", there are no special features with Ms. Headey. For the dvd, they did interview the cast and crew, but if you dare to blink, you miss her whole 2 seconds. That was disappointing. But the movie is entertaining.
I also saw the "movie that shall remain nameless" (or, as Ms. Perabo said one the Q&A for the IM&Y dvd, the movie that is "all a deleted scene"). It was an ok movie, if you are into creatures/adventure/testosterone movies. Not my cup of tea either, but what can I say...I couldn't pass the occasion to see another movie with both Ms. Perabo and Ms. Headey. I sincerely hope they will get great roles, because they are such talented actresses.
hey! thanks for replying to my post.
because i'm a lena fan, i thought she was great in aberdeen, and it's easy to see why it's the movie most special to her amongst all her movies. it allowed her to be more than just a siren or someone being chased around by creatures in a cave (oops--did i just name the movie that should have remained "nameless"?). however my copy was kind of dark and it seemed like a pirated version of it, although it wasn't. i think...
i've seen some of her other movies, too--gossip (is it just me, or no one's really talked about it here? her role was quite big in the movie), possession, twice upon a yesterday (no comment)...i have to say that imagine me and you is where i like her the most, maybe cos it's more contemporary and it didn't seem like she was acting at all, but just being how she is in real life (although of course, i wouldn't know). =)
i've read somewhere else that she was working in a movie called "click" with adam sandler. i know that the working title for IMAY was click, so i thought the reporter must have confused lena with being in the movie click. wonder if anyone's actually seen click and know if lena's in there, or maybe she was but her scenes were cut?
hey i've seen DEBS. really funny! i don't think a lot of people get it--that it's supposed to be funny like that, but what do they know! =)
totally, totally recommended...
Hi tensix. My pleasure! Interesting subject, I must say.
i've seen some of her other movies, too--gossip (is it just me, or no one's really talked about it here? her role was quite big in the movie), possession, twice upon a yesterday (no comment)...
How is Gossip? And Twice Upon a Yesterday? Why "no comment"? Imagine Me and You was the first movie I saw with Ms. Headey. I soon became a big fan (that's why I buyed Aberdeen, Brothers Grimm and, [clearing throat] The Cave [cleating throat]... ) I seriously hope she - and Ms. Perabo too - will get great parts, because she's an amazing actress. They are both natural, subtle, ...
So, which good movie should I get in order to see these talented actresses?
and it contains gwenth paltrow (*shudder*).
Funny!
along with bros grimm, lost and delirious, US IM&Y and D.E.B.S (which has no bearing to this post.. I just really want my mail...)
Lost and Delirious is great, and Ms. Perabo is quite fabulous in it. I am sure her character wasn't easy to portray (the movie is not light, but very, very powerful). I saw that movie a couple years ago at the theatre (and, of course, I own the dvd). I highly recommend it.
As for DEBS (by the way, I hope you will get your mail soon!), it is not as good as IM&Y or Lost and Delerious (and, of course, there is not the presence of either Ms Perabo or Ms. Headey), but it is a funny comedy indeed. But I agree with tensix: I'm not sure people really get it.
hey hat! =)
at the risk of being shot, i didn't like twice upon a yesterday that much. the blonde guy who played lena's boyfriend was SO irritating. and the story was just...well, i won't blow it so much, but she, on the other hand, was great. not surprising, you might have seen that coming, as i'm a lena fan anyways.
i like piper a lot, too. i think she's very funny. and hey--i kind of liked coyote ugly. and yes, it's funny that there's a director's cut. hard to imagine that the director left enough stuff out to release another dvd version hundreds of years later. but i still like it.
*me singing* "don't you know...don't you know...you can't...fight the moonliiiiggghhhtttt...."
as for DEBS, not sure people will get that it's a satire...i still think it's funny...
where is everybody from, by the way?
I haven't see Coyote Ugly. I thought to buy it, but I've read that Mr Perabo isn't that fond of it... I haven't see Twice Upon a Yesterday either, that is why I was asking what was wrong with it.
I've seen the trailer for 10th & Wolf (with P. Perabo) this morning. It looks well done. And it was done by people involved in Crash and Million Dollar Baby, so hopefully it will work out well. I'm not a big fan of mob movies though...
To answer your question, I'm a Quebecer. Or, as I would say in French, Québécoise.
hey guys...i'm reppin' san francisco, ca...
san francisco city, where the women are strong, and the men are pretty...=)
piper's new movie, edison force, went straight to video, released yesterday. haven't seen it yet. i think she plays justin timberlake's girlfriend.
hey alice, wow--good luck on getting those videos. if you don't ever get them, let me know--i can make you copies since i have those movies. if you'll settle for copies.
hat, twice upoan a yesterday wasn't very good. the only reason to see it is if you're a lena fan, or maybe a die-hard penelope cruz fan. but the story itself isn't so good, that's my humble opinion.
