CELIA IMRIE (Tessa)

     Celia Imrie's feature film credits include STAR WARS, HIGHLANDER, THE HOUSE OF WHIPCORD, MURDER ON THE MOON, THE HARMFULNESS OF TOBACCO - which won the BAFTA Award for Best Short film, BLUE BLACK PERMANENT, Kenneth Branagh's FRANKENSTEIN and IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER, THE BORROWERS, the role of Iris du Pré in HILARY AND JACKIE, LUCKY BREAK, the role of UNA in BRIDGET JONES' DIARY and BRIDGET JONES: EDGE OF REASON, THUNDERPANTS and CALENDAR GIRLS. Her most recent roles include Mrs. Quickley in NANNY MCPHEE and Lady Hardwicke in Richard E. Grant's WAH WAH.
     On television Imrie is well known for her performances in Victoria Wood's highly acclaimed series and specials "As Seen on TV," "Dinnerladies," and the award-winning film "Pat and Margaret." She has also appeared in Ruth Rendell's "A Dark Adapted Eye," "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit," "The Riff-Raff Element," "Wokenwell," "Mr. White Goes To Westminster," "The Canterville Ghost," the role of Lady Groan in the BBC adaptation of "Gormenghast," Aunt Sadie in "Love in a Cold Climate," "Station Jim," "A Gathering Storm" for HBO, "Zhivago" for Granada Films, Sally Wainwright's "Sparkhouse," "The Plan Man" with Robby Coltraine and, most recently, "Mr. Harvey Lights a Candle" with Timothy Spall.
     On stage, Imrie won the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Actress in the National Theatre production of Edward Bond's THE SEA with Dame Judi Dench for and played in "The Hothouse" in the West End opposite Harold Pinter. She has also appeared in "Habeus Corpus" directed by Sam Mendes at the Donmar Theatre, "Dona Rosita" at the Almeida Theatre and as Lady Candour in "School for Scandal" at the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2003, she performed a one-woman play "Unsuspecting Susan" by Stewart Permutt at the King's Head and the role of Lady Wishfort in "The Way of the World" at Wilton's Music Hall. In 2005, Imrie reprised her role of Miss Babs in "Acorn Antiques the Musical" at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, directed by Sir Trevor Nunn and then went straight to New York to perform "Unsuspecting Susan" for a season at the 59th St Theater.
